How often do you hold each class?
We try to hold each of the Microsoft classes at least once a month. Based on the time of year or demand, we may change that schedule. If you see a class you’re interested in, we’d recommend signing up for it, just in case.
What kind of materials do you use in your Microsoft classes?
We are a certified Microsoft IT Academy and, because of that, we use the Microsoft Official Academic Course (MOAC) materials. All registered students receive a PDF version of the student guide, which can be downloaded from our site. In order to download the materials, you do need to be registered and you’ll receive the password in class.
Will I be “certified” after taking a class?
In order to receive a certification – such as the Microsoft Office Professional (MOP) – you need to write the certification exam. However, we use the Microsoft Official Academic Course materials for all of our Microsoft classes and that means that we cover all of the material you would need to know in order to take the exam. Additionally, students get to keep the e-book version of the student study guide to help them study in preparation for the exam.
In the near future, students will be able to write the exam immediately after taking the course here at BenSoft (if they so choose).
Do you cancel classes if there aren’t enough people?
For the class to be viable, we need to have a minimum of three students enrolled. That’s right, just three! In the offhand, and unlikely, chance that we do need to cancel a class because we don’t have enough students, we can either refund your fees or apply them to a different date. Just let us know what you’d prefer.
What’s your refund policy if I cancel?
It’s pretty straightforward. If you cancel (and we sure hope you don’t need to) at least 72 hours before the start of class, you will get 100% of your registration back. If you cancel with less than 72 hours but more than 48 hours, then you get 50% of your fees back. If you cancel with less than 48 remaining before class, a refund will not be available.
What do I need to bring to class?
Bring yourself, something to take notes on, and a desire to learn and have fun. If you want to bring a device such as a tablet, smartphone, or laptop to check messages during breaks, WiFi is available.
We also recommend you bring a thumb drive so that you can take your completed exercises with you when the class is over.
If you want to bring a lunch, that’s fine – there is a microwave where you can heat it up. Otherwise there are several restaurants of varying price and style within a mile or so of the building. You’ll have an hour for lunch, so you can dine in or bring it back.
What services do you offer?
In addition to our in-class, instructor-led classes, we also offer short online classes as well as on-site courses that are tailored to your specific needs.

How large are the classes?
To ensure the best possible learning environment, we limit each our classes to a maximum of 15 people.
Do you offer discounts for multiple people?
Yes we do! If your company is sending three or more people to a class, we offer a group discount. Please contact us for more information. In order to qualify, all registering students must be associated with your organization.
If your organization wants to send six or more people, you may find a customized on-site session is a better financial option.
How long does each class last?
Depending on the topic, classes can range from one day to an entire week. Each day, however, runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with an hour for lunch.
We do recommend that, at least on the first day of class, that you plan on arriving 15 minutes early.
Where are you located?
The National Moser Center Chicago – Benedictine University, is located at 1832 Centre Point Circle in Naperville, IL, in suite 102.
We’re just off of Diehl Road and slightly east of Washington Street. Take I-88 to the Naperville Blvd exit. We have a parking lot with plenty of free parking right out front.
If you’re taking Metra, take the BNSF line to the Naperville stop and it’s a 2½ mile taxi ride from the station to our building (approximately $10 plus tip each way)

Which certifications does BenSoft offer?
We are proud to be a CompTIA® Authorized Academy, a Certiport® Authorized Testing Center, and a member of the Microsoft® Imagine Academy. As such, we offer the full range of IT-industry certifications from CompTIA as well as dozens of software- and functional-related certifications. What is BenSoft’s testing schedule?
We host certification testing every second Friday. This is to accommodate our training classes that we hold Monday through Thursday. We offer two time periods each session: a morning period that runs from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM and an afternoon period that runs from 1:30 PM until 4:00 PM. To schedule an exam, go to our certifications page and select the exam you would like to sit for. Alternatively, you can select from the various certification providers from the top menu.
What if I need to change my testing date or time?
As long as there is an available seat in your new preferred date/time, then you can reschedule with a minimum 48 hour notice. Please contact us as soon as you know you need to change your test date or time. If there isn’t an available seat, then please choose a different date/time. We want to ensure that you have the best possible experience with our testing center and will work with you on your needs.
Is the certification fee included in the price of a class?
Not necessarily. If there is a class that is directly tied to a certification exam, then we do offer a discounted package price for both the class and the exam fee. We try to schedule these classes so that they end the day before (or morning of) a scheduled examination day. Although you do not have to take the exam immediately after the class, you will have a much better chance of passing the exam while the knowledge is still fresh in your mind.
However, this class/exam combo discount is only available as a package. If you register for just a class and wish to purchase the exam voucher at a later date, you’ll pay the full price for the voucher.
What if my certification requires more than one exam?
In some cases, particularly with the CompTIA® certifications, you must pass two separate exams in order to receive your certification. Although you cannot sit for two exams simultaneously, you can sit for the first exam in the morning session and then sit for the second exam during the afternoon period. That’s not easy to do but, if you’re up for, that’s certainly an option.
How can I pay for my exam fee?
You can pay for your exam the same way as one of our regular classes: credit card, company purchase order/invoice, and check:
- If you pay by check, please contact us for the proper mailing address as well as to ensure that there is an available seat.
- Invoices must be paid prior to sitting for the exam.
Does BenSoft report the results of my exam to my company?
If your company is paying for your exam and they submit a request to us, BenSoft will then report the results of your exam upon their request. Alternatively, if you ask us to report the results of your exam to your company (as proof of training hours, etc.) then we will happily do so on your behalf.
Can I use an exam voucher that I bought elsewhere?
Unfortunately not. Only voucher/exam fees that are purchased through BenSoft are accepted at our testing center.
If I buy an exam voucher through BenSoft, can I use it at a different testing center?
Maybe. If you’re unable to attend the exam date/time that you signed up for and there isn’t an alternative day that meets your needs, we will certainly provide you with the voucher number so that it can be used elsewhere. However, final determination on whether or not you can use the voucher at a different testing center will depend on that center and you’ll need to check with them.
Can I bring any materials in with me to the testing room?
No. No materials of any kind (including books, tablets, phones, Bluetooth devices, etc.) may be brought into the testing center with you. There is a secure location where your personal belongings can be stored during your exam. During colder months, BenSoft has a room for hanging jackets and coats.
Due to the necessity of maintaining the integrity of certifications, if you’re found with any materials or exam-aids, you’ll forfeit your exam fees, be asked to leave the testing center, and the violation will be reported to the organization that sponsors the certification.
What if I don’t pass my exam?
Exam vouchers are one-time use only. If you don’t pass your certification exam, you’ll need to purchase another voucher to try again. So study hard!
What identification do I need to bring with me?
In order to sit for any exam, you will need a current, government-issued picture ID. Examples include (but aren’t limited to) a passport, driver’s license, official state ID.
If you do not have ID, if your ID has expired, is not government-issued, or does not have your picture on it, you will not be able to sit for the exam and may forfeit your exam fee.
